The <var>PKCSError</var> exception class describes an exception associated with finding data that does not conform to the Public-Key Cryptography Standards (PKCS). See, for example, [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PKCS_1 PKCS #1] for more information about what the standards affect.

To produce a <var>PKCSError</var> exception yourself, you typically use a <var class="product">SOUL</var> <var>[[Exceptions#Throwing exceptions|Throw]]</var> statement with a <var>PKCSError</var> <var>[[New (PKCSError constructor)|New]]</var> constructor. This statement must be issued from within a method, and it can only be caught by the code that calls the method. For example, the following statement throws a <var>PKCSError</var> exception:
