M204.2297  Conditions not met for backward processing

To process a record set in the backward direction, at least one of the following conditions must be met:

  • The field must be defined with the AT-MOST-ONE attribute.
  • The field must be preallocated with OCCURS 1.
  • If you are running SOUL, Each must be specified on the For statement. If you are running IFAM, the Each option must be included in the CURSOR-SPEC parameter on the IFOCUR call.

Response: Make sure one of these conditions is met.

CLASS=EError class; the message can be suppressed with the X'04' bit setting of the MSGCTL parameter
AUDITERWrites the message with line type ER to the audit trail
