MSIR.0393 Relative CENTSPAN value (form) in SIRFIELD FORMAT command converted to (eff)

From m204wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

This informational message indicates that a SIRFIELD FORMAT command was issued with the DATE keyword and a two-digit year date format. It informs you that the effective CENTSPAN value for the field is set to eff. form is either (default), to indicate your SIRFIELD command did not contain the CENTSPAN keyword, or is specified, to indicate your SIRFIELD command contained an explicit relative CENTSPAN value.

Note: The value shown in eff may be different from the value you specified in your SIRFIELD command. For example, if you INITIALIZE a file in 1997 and issue a SIRFIELD FORMAT command with CENTSPAN -40, the effective CENTSPAN for that field is 1957. If, in 1998, you use Fast/Reorg (UAI/LAI) to reorganize the file, and the reload step contains the same SIRFIELD command (CENTSPAN -40), the effective CENTSPAN will remain as 1957; it will not become 1958.

If, in the above example, you want to change the effective CENTSPAN to 1958, you can either specify an absolute CENTSPAN 1958, or you can use the NOFDEF option on the LAI statement. This will have the effect of re-calculating new effective CENTSPAN values for all two-digit year fields in the file with relative CENTSPAN specifications (either explicitly or by default).
