M204.0199 Open failed for VTAM applid applName with reason code X"hexValue"
An SNA Communications Server (also known as VTAM) ACB OPEN failed. The reason code stated in the message is explained in the IBM SNA Communications Server Macro Language Reference manual or the ACF/SNA Communications Server Programmer's Reference manual. This error can be caused by a variety of conditions. The circumstance and response relevant to this failure instance are detailed in subsequent M024.3053 and M204.3054 Errors and these are written to the Operator's Console.asAmong the more common causes of this error are:
- An incorrect name was specified in the VTAMNAME parameter on the User 0 CCAIN parameter line. The name must match a valid SNA Communications Server application defined in the VTAMLST file by an APPLID macro. The Model 204 default is
M204
. - A value was specified in the NOTERM parameter on the User 0 parameter line that is smaller than the number of IODEV parameter cards for the type. The Model 204 initialization tries to open a second ACB with the same name as the first after it has processed NOTERM number of IODEV cards. This is an open error X'58'.
System manager response: The possible responses are:
- Verify that the VTAMNAME specified in your User 0 parameter line is a correct application name. Correct the parameter and rerun Model 204.
- Verify that the value for NOTERM for each set of IODEV types (7 or 37) equals the number of IODEV parameter cards. Correct the NOTERM value and rerun Model 204.
- Verify that the ACB is not already open by another application.
Operator response: Notify the system manager.
