If a secure port is being used for file uploads the SSLBSIZE on the JANUS DEFINE command must almost certainly be set to 32760. Otherwise, the SSLBSIZE must be set to the size of the largest expected form request which means that it should probably be a few hundred larger than the RBSIZE for the port.

This message indicates that an encrypted message was received that exceeded either of these:

  • The default SSLBSIZE for the port
  • The SSLBSIZE value specified as a parameter on the JANUS DEFINE command for a port

Since many browsers provide no control over the SSL block size, they use the largest block size allowed (32760 bytes) if a request is large enough.

If a secure port is being used for file uploads, the SSLBSIZE specified on the JANUS DEFINE command must almost certainly be set to 32760. Otherwise, the SSLBSIZE must be set to the size of the largest expected form request, which means that it should probably be a few hundred larger than the RBSIZE specified for the port.

Note: For most sites, SSLIBSIZE can only be set larger than 16K if CUSTOM=18 is also set. See the discussion on the SSLIBSIZE (JANUS DEFINE parameter) page for further information.
