This message indicates that a UNICODE command was incorrectly entered; the term indicated by badItem is invalid, at least at the point at which it was entered in the invalid command. item indicates the manner in which badItem is incorrect: for example, 4-digit hex U=hhhh code point would be shown if the badItem is U=WZYZ.
